I. Core Features (Differences from Ordinary Hook-and-Loop Ties)

 

Anti-Static/Conductive Property: This is its most fundamental characteristic. The tie's surface or material contains carbon fibers, metal fibers

 (e.g., stainless steel wire), or conductive yarns, giving it a certain level of electrical conductivity.

 

Dissipates Static Electricity: Can safely guide and discharge static charges generated on the surface of bundled objects

 (e.g., cables, electronic components) or from friction to earth or a ground point, preventing electrostatic buildup.

 

Permanent Anti-Static Property: Its anti-static performance is inherent to the material itself and will not significantly degrade due to washing, abrasion,

 or over time.

 

Durable and Reusable: Like ordinary hook-and-loop ties, it can be adjusted freely and used repeatedly via peeling and attaching.

 

Soft yet High Strength: Does not damage wire or equipment surfaces while offering excellent bundling strength.

Primarily used in environments and industries sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD) to prevent ESD damage to precision components.

 

Electronic Product Manufacturing and Repair: Used on production lines and repair workbenches for bundling and organizing circuit boards, 

cables, and tools to prevent static accumulation.

 

Data Centers/Server Rooms: For organizing the multitude of network and power cables inside server racks 

to prevent electrostatic interference and equipment damage.

 

Communication Equipment: Used for cable management inside communication base stations, switches, and other equipment.

 

Laboratory and Testing Environments: For securing probes and cables on test platforms requiring electrostatic protection.

III. Working Principle

Anti-static hook-and-loop ties typically achieve their ESD function in one of two ways:

 

Surface Conductive Type: Conductive fibers (e.g., carbon fibers) are woven into or coated onto the surface of a base material like nylon. Charges are dissipated through the conductive paths formed by these fibers.

 

Inherently Conductive Type: The entire tie's material is blended with conductive media, giving the whole tie uniform conductivity.

 

Their anti-static performance is usually indicated by surface resistance or volume resistance. Common anti-static tie resistance ranges from 10³ to 10ohms per square. This range ensures slow, safe dissipation of static electricity without posing a short-circuit risk due to being overly conductive.




IV. Key Points for Selection

When purchasing, consider the following parameters:

 

Resistance Value: Choose the appropriate resistance range based on your ESD protection level requirements. The 10ohm level is common.

 

Material: Confirm if it's nylon+carbon fiber, polyester+conductive yarn, etc., as this affects durability and anti-static effectiveness.

 

Size: Includes length and width. Common widths are 10mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, etc., with lengths ranging from 100mm to 1 meter or even longer.

 

Color: Common colors are black (due to carbon fiber content), gray, blue, etc. Black often visually indicates conductivity.





V. Usage Precautions

 

Proper Grounding: For optimal static dissipation, ideally, the tie and the bundled objects should be connected to a common, effective grounding system. If used in isolation, its anti-static effectiveness will be reduced.

 

Avoid Contact with High Voltage: It is only for discharging low-energy static electricity and must never be used as electrical insulation or in high-voltage applications.

 

Cleaning and Maintenance: Dirt can affect conductivity. Clean with a damp cloth if necessary.
